1970 saw the first of Chijgamvasi arriving in Toronto. First Bipinbhai Dahyabhai Patel from Patel Falia, followed by Sureshbahi P Patel from Patel Falia and Arvindbhai B Patel from Patel Falia. Since then more brothers and sisters from Chijgam have arrived and settled in Toronto. There are currently over 17 brothers and 20 sisters residing in Toronto. They do not have a formal organisation or committee formed, but are a very closely knit group of people and do have a strong unity between the gamvasi.

Since 1995 Toronto have began to organise annual Chijgamvasi gatherings during the summer with turnouts today of over 150 people. These annual gatherings are an ideal way to welcome new arrivals from Chijgam into Canada and also allows them familiarize with the other people there.
